Only a few weeks after signing an agreement with Swiss based IG Adscreen OVAB Europe started a new cooperation with the Italian AssoDS association. The agreement signed on August 7 in Milan aims at sharing know-how and experiences in establishing industry standards.
AssoDS and OVAB plan to adapt and establish the current four digital signage and digital out of home standards for the Italian market. The process should be finalised at the end of 2014, but first tangible results are scheduled to be released this fall.
AssoDS was established in 2010 and has currently 35 members after the crisis reduced 60% of the members from 2012. AssoDS members are part of the wider value chain in the Digital Signage industry from integrators to hardware and software producers, consultants and of course network owners and specialized media agencies. Their initial purpose was to make Digital Signage well known in the market and now they are ready to fulfill the market needs of qualified operators and solution providers. The agreement is directed to defining a common quality-of-service and to qualify Digital Signage installation and network operators according to a set of formalised and generally accepted standards. We have the final target for the Expo2015 in Milan when it is expected that all Digital Signage companies are ready to follow an European or wider standard.
The two recent agreements underline the active role of OVAB Europe as a leading association for standards across Europe and neighbouring markets. OVAB has developed – in a partly painful process – a set of minimum standards for Digital Signage and DooH installations and networks during the past three years. Most of the work has been achieved in numerous meetings led by the top DooH network operators in Germany and the leading market researcher Enigma GfK.
